East Texas Refrigeration’s Gift of Warmth Project

It’s time for East Texas Refrigeration’s annual Gift of Warmth project! East Texas Refrigeration (ETR) is partnering with The Salvation Army to collect 500 NEW blankets by January 27th, 2017 and we need your help! The Salvation Army has already given out over 100 blankets this season alone, and counts on donations from drives like ETR’s Gift of Warmth project to sustain our efforts in the community. Blankets are distributed year-round through our Social Services office, and also used in our Center of Hope shelter (a 200-bed facility). New blankets may be dropped off at the following locations:

Salvation Army Red Cards

What do you give someone who has everything? A gift in their honor for people who have nothing!
Honor your family and friends by making a donation to The Salvation Army this season! In turn, The Salvation Army will send a personalized Christmas card to them letting them know that a gift has been given by you in their name.
The suggested gift is $10 per card.
The best news is, we can send these “Red Cards” or Christmas Cards to your entire mailing list! It’s a meaningful gift that will definitely be used right here in Smith County!

2016 Tee Off for Toys Golf Tournament
/in News, Tyler, Updates /by pwatleyYou are invited to sponsor or play in the 6th Annual “Tee Off for Toys” Golf Tournament. This tournament will take place on Monday September 26th, 2016 at the beautiful and scenic Hideaway Lake Golf Course. Hosted by the Tyler Professional Firefighters Association, this four player scramble benefits The Salvation Army’s annual Angel Tree program.
Each player is also asked to bring an unwrapped toy ($10 and up value) with them on the tournament day.
Registration Opens – 9am
Putting Contest – 9:30am
Shotgun Start – 11am
Prizes will be given for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, closest to the pin
and longest drive.

Doing The Most Good by Joining Forces
/in Disaster, Texarkana, Tyler, Updates /byDallas, Texas (April 25, 2016) – In times of disaster, The Salvation Army is grateful to collaborate with so many wonderful partners. The recent flood in Houston is no different. Houstonians, area companies, and organizations have rallied around The Salvation Army Greater Houston Area Command to help provide relief and comfort to flood survivors.
With a record 16 inches of rain in the Houston area, donations, help, and volunteers from Mercy Chefs, Renaissance Food Group, Cox Media Group – 93Q, Convoy of Hope, UberEATS, Garden Highway Foods, Country Legends 97.2, 107.5 The Eagle KSBJ, Harvest Time Church, Pei Wei and others, have assisted The Salvation Army in distributing:
- 7,638 meals
- 9,605 drinks
- 9,526 snacks
- 1,267 clean-up kits
- Prayer with 1,021 individuals
Working together to serve others in their desperate time of need is a privilege. Salvation Army disaster teams from Texarkana, Tyler, Conroe, Pasadena, DFW (Plano), Houston Northwest, and Kerrville have all made their way to Houston to provide much needed service and relief to those affected by the flood.
Meal service and clean-up kit distribution:
GREENSPOINT AREA
A roving canteen (mobile kitchen) will be on Green Road, between Wayforest Drive and Imperial Valley Drive throughout the week based on need, providing sack lunches and clean-up kits to the apartments located in the area.
PINEHURST
Pinehurst by Magnolia (in Montgomery County). Delivering dinner for 125 people Monday night as well as meals to this area for the remainder of the week. Clean-up kits also available. Currently, this area has no electricity.
BEAR CREEK AREA
Two snack trucks will be roving in the Bear Creek area for the remainder of the week.
MEYERLAND AREA
Meals and clean-up kits will be available at two apartment complexes in Meyerland: 5550 N. Braeswood Blvd and 4605 N. Braeswood Blvd.
