Our Programs
Shelter Programs
Time-limited Residential Programs
Time-limited residence programs are offered in most Texas communities to help individuals or families move from overnight or temporary shelter care into stable housing. Those involved may need this service for a number of reasons, including family dislocation, disaster, de-institutionalization or just a temporary shortage or loss of income.
These programs help individuals or families get back on the road to self-sufficiency through counseling, child care, food boxes, housing and job hunting assistance.
Residential Settings
Most residential shelter services include meals, counseling, case management, transportation and recreational services.
The opportunity is provided to all residents to take part in worship and other activities at one of our Salvation Army corps or at a community church of their choice.

Impacting Lives
Tired of living with less than honorable roommates, Allen was desperate to begin a new life. With nowhere to go, and knowing that starting over meant moving out of his living situation, he came to us with only hope in his pocket. Merely looking for shelter and a warm meal, Allen got much more. First, we gave him a job as a Christmas bell ringer. Then at the end of the Christmas season, he went to work doing whatever jobs were in demand from washing windows to painting homes. In his spare time, he volunteered at our shelter doing everything from making sure there were clean linens to encouraging and counseling the residents.
Allen proved himself to be a dependable, hardworking and compassionate individual and was made Shelter Monitor. It became his responsibility to ensure that all physical and emotional needs were met on an individual basis for each transient. Soon after, we hired him as the part-time weekend Monitor.
Allen is now not only a paid part-time staff member, but continues to volunteer as a Shelter Monitor and a van driver. Every morning he takes residents to their jobs. Allen has touched many lives. He is a living demonstration of the objective of our shelter program.
