The Salvation Army Needs Volunteers & Donations

We Need YOUR Help

 puzzle 2

Christmas has finally ended for The Salvation Army of Amarillo…but our mission has not. The Salvation Army feeds meals and provides shelter for the homeless 365 days a year. With ongoing programs and emergency assistance being provided to the community, The Salvation Army is in need of volunteers and donations (monetary and material donations to our Family Store).

The Salvation Army shelter is in need of volunteers for our computer lab, game nights, craft nights, movie nights, to teach life skills classes, etc. The Salvation Army Family Store has been low on material donations. All proceeds from our Family Store come back to The Salvation Army to provide programs and services to the community. With the continual need for our emergency services with rent, utilities, and the shelter needs, The Salvation Army is always in need of monetary donations.

For more information about The Salvation Army programs, services, to volunteer, or to find out how you can help, please call our main office at (806)373-6631 or visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SalvationArmyAmarillo. The Salvation Army Needs YOUR Help To Distribute Angel Tree Gifts

We NEED Volunteers
Help Us With The Last Step To Make Christmas Happen

at

It’s time for our last step to complete our Christmas Assistance Program….distributing gifts to those who wouldn’t have a Christmas without The Salvation Army Angel Tree program. We have over 2,000 children with thousands of gifts to distribute. We need as many organizations, church groups, small business office personnel, etc. to help distribute all of the gifts received from our generous community. On our Distribution Days alone we need a minimum of 50 volunteers PER day. Lastly, after all the gifts have been distributed to families we need help cleaning up! We need people to put bikes together, organize clothes, toys and generally make the Rex Baxter Building a professional distribution center.

PLEASE DON’T FORGET:

Actual Distribution Days – December 19th ,2015 1:00pm – 5:00pm
December 21st, and 22nd, 9:00am-5:00pm

Distribution Cleanup – December 23rd, 9:00am-5:00pm

The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign raises money to help needy families and individuals. Toot’n Totum volunteered to team up with The Salvation Army once again to help raise funds for our Angel Tree program. Toot’n Totum placed counter-top Red Kettles at all of their Toot’n Totums, Mr. Payrolls, and Car Care Center locations throughout Amarillo to help raise funds. Toot’n Totum is matching a portion of the funds raised to purchase gifts for Angels. Toot’n Totum Kettles will remain at all locations until December 24, 2015.

Toot’n Totum employees will purchase gifts at Target for Salvation Army Angels with the money raised. Toot’n Totum employees wanted to give back to the community this holiday season. They wanted to make sure that no Angels are forgotten and that they receive a blessed Christmas this year.

Fill-the-Truck-small

The Salvation Army wants to make sure that every Angel on our Angel Tree receives a full Christmas this year. Walmart is helping! Saturday December 12th, 2015, from 10:00am-2:00pm, there will be “Fill The Truck” boxes readily available at a Walmart location near you (Coulter, Tascosa, Georgia, Grand, and Canyon Walmarts). “Fill The Truck” boxes will be located at an entrance door and can be filled with toys, under garments, socks, coats, etc. Every little bit counts and helps! This is our last big push to collect toys for the angels on our Angel Tree so please stop by and purchase a gift for a child in need.

Help us make this Christmas one that a child in our Amarillo area will remember forever…because every child deserves a little Christmas.

The Salvation Army invites the Amarillo community to join us for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday November 26, 2015. If you find yourself alone or would love to partake in a holiday experience, please join us from 12:00pm – 2:00pm at the Harrington Hope Center, 400 S. Harrison Street, Amarillo (Enter at 5th and Harrison door). We will serve a restaurant style dining atmosphere complete with hostesses, a sit-down dinner, servers, and great table conversation. If you are looking for a great place to spend Thanksgiving, we welcome you to be a part of our holiday meal at The Salvation Army of Amarillo. No one has to be alone for the holidays.

We are in need of home baked desserts. On Thanksgiving Day we love for those who dine with us to have options just as most of us do in our own homes during the holidays. If you can’t give of your time that day maybe you can help out by baking a dessert! We would like to have all desserts turned in by 12pm Wednesday November 25th, 2015 or at least receive a courtesy call that you will be bringing a dessert.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree Kick-Off

Picture1

For various reasons hundreds of children in the Amarillo area won’t experience Christmas this year. Beginning November 13, 2015 through December 13, 2015, The Salvation Army will offer holiday shoppers the opportunity to make a child’s Christmas dream come true by adopting a child through its Angel Tree Program. The Angel Tree will contain hundreds of Angels draping from its branches. Each Angel hanging represents a needy child in the Amarillo area who is awaiting adoption.

After gifts have been collected, we will begin setting up to distribute gifts to families at the Rex Baxter building.
