For every $100 donated, four children will receive a new pair of tennis shoes to help them step into their future.
Can you imagine what it’s like to be a child in school having to wear a worn-out pair of shoes – or a pair that’s not quite big enough for your feet? This is the reality for many children in Williamson and Travis counties. That’s why The Salvation Army holds our annual Shoe-In to provide shoes to local children and help them step into a better future.
On Saturday, October 24, 2015, we will be conducting our Annual Shoe-In in Williamson County at Celebration Church. This year we are also adding a Shoe-In in Travis County as part of The Junior League of Austin Coats for Kids distribution on December 12.
Over the past five years we have given away more than 5,500 pairs of new tennis shoes and more than 11,000 pairs of new socks to children living in poverty or homelessness. Our goal this year is to provide 1,200 students in Williamson and Travis counties with one new pair of tennis shoes and two new pairs of socks each.
Make a Difference
Please consider making a Shoe-In donation to help us raise the $60,000 needed to provide these shoes and socks. Because of our great partners (see below) we are able to buy quality, new tennis shoes for $20-25 a pair.
Also, if you would like a wonderful volunteer experience, watch for the opportunity to sign up to volunteer to help children find their perfect pair of shoes at this event.
