The 19th Annual Children’s Golf Classic is one of the premier fundraising events for The Salvation Army Austin. In the past 18 years the tournament has raised more than $1.4 million to support emergency shelter services for families with children.
How does the money make an impact?
Proceeds from the golf outing will benefit The Salvation Army’s youth programs, including camp, after-school programs and music education for disadvantaged children and teens in the Austin area, as well as shelter for families in crisis.
In 2013, our Social Services Center provided emergency lodging and supportive services to 607 children and 2,490 women, and 4,688 individuals. Of those served, 66% percent were women and children.
Organized by a group of community-minded volunteers, the goal of the tournament is to provide an opportunity for others to give back and have fun while doing it. Since 1995 an average of $0.82 of every dollar raised has gone to direct services. These funds impact countless numbers of children and families through a variety of programs and care provided by The Salvation Army.
